Fatal Jacksonville shooting death of Kenneth Mobley – Obituary
Kenneth Mobley, 38, was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of Copeland’s restaurant on Southside Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida, according to his family. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that officers were dispatched to the area near Touchton Road following the incident, where they discovered Mobley with a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead. Investigators said Mobley had arranged to meet someone at the location, although the reason for the meeting has not been confirmed.
Three individuals were taken into custody for questioning; however, it remains unclear whether any of them were directly involved in the shooting. Authorities are also looking for a dark-colored four-door vehicle, possibly a Nissan, that was seen at the location.
Yana Royter, an employee at a nearby coffee shop, recounted the frightening moments when gunshots rang out. Her coworkers rushed back inside for safety, and the team locked their doors not knowing the nature of the situation.
This incident marked the first of three separate shootings in Jacksonville on the same day. One occurred later that evening in Magnolia Gardens, leaving a man with gunshot wounds to his hip and elbow. Another shooting took place at Vista Landing apartments, where an 18-year-old was killed and three others seriously injured.
