Fatal Las Vegas road rage shooting death of Kevin Lozano – Obituary

Kevin Lozano, 32, was shot and killed on June 2 during a violent encounter following a minor traffic accident on the 215 Beltway in Las Vegas. According to a report by the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred between Jones and Rainbow boulevards just after 6 p.m.

Authorities say the confrontation began when Javante Lopes, 22, rear-ended Lozano’s Ford Maverick while driving a Chrysler Pacifica with his pregnant fiancée inside. After the collision, Lopes approached Lozano’s vehicle to check on everyone’s condition.

Police state that Lozano exited his car wielding a large knife and proceeded to chase Lopes around his own vehicle multiple times, even slashing one of the Pacifica’s tires.

Fearing for his and his fiancée’s safety, Lopes then shot Lozano. The police report characterizes Lopes’ actions as driven by fear during the chaotic scene.
