Monica Torres, 51, of Tenino, was confirmed deceased after being found in the Chehalis River near Galvin, just outside Centralia, on June 7.
The Lewis County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy, with the cause and manner of death awaiting toxicology results, according to Coroner Warren McCleod.
Deputies were dispatched around 6:35 p.m. after a caller floating on the river spotted Torres’ body in the water near Sheridan Street. Members of the Lewis County Swiftwater Rescue Team, along with personnel from the Chehalis Fire Department, Lewis County Fire District 2, and the sheriff’s office, recovered her from the river.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not released further details at this time. Authorities encourage anyone with information about the incident to contact the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office or 911 Communications.
Torres is remembered by her loved ones, and the community awaits the final autopsy report to provide more clarity about her passing.
