A motorcycle accident on Interstate 85 in Spartanburg County has claimed the life of 22-year-old Nathan Brian Henson, according to the local coroner’s office.

The incident occurred near New Cut Road on Wednesday. Officials from the South Carolina Highway Patrol said that Henson, who was operating a motorcycle, attempted to slow down as he approached congested traffic. During the maneuver, he lost control and was thrown from the vehicle onto the roadway.

Emergency responders transported Henson to a nearby hospital following the crash, but he succumbed to his injuries later that same day.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
