Fatal DeKalb County stabbing death of Patrick O’Neil Almond – Obituary

Patrick O’Neil Almond, a 30-year-old former Marine and disabled veteran, was killed late Monday night after being stabbed near a shopping center on Lavista Road in DeKalb County, Georgia. According to police, Almond was attacked near an insurance office and then managed to cross the street before collapsing at a nearby Chevron gas station.

 

Emergency responders arrived around 12:45 a.m. after receiving reports of an injured person. Witnesses say Almond was found near the fuel pumps with multiple stab wounds and was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Authorities confirmed they took in a woman who had been with Almond for questioning, but her role in the incident has not yet been determined and no charges have been announced.

 

Police are reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding businesses in hopes of learning more about what led to the stabbing. Residents who frequent the area said they recognized Almond as someone who was often seen nearby.
