Fatal Canton homicide death of Sharon Germyn – Obituary

Sharon Germyn, a 71-year-old woman, was found dead in her Canton, Michigan home on March 6, prompting an investigation that has now led to a murder charge. Authorities discovered her body in the 41000 block of Heathmore Court during a welfare check.

Canton Police quickly launched an inquiry into the circumstances, which they described as suspicious. The focus of the investigation turned to her boyfriend, Mark Davis, 56, who was taken into custody the following day in Ypsilanti on a parole violation hold. His arrest was carried out with assistance from multiple agencies including the Northville Township Police Department, the Michigan Department of Corrections, and the Western Wayne County Special Operations Team.

Subsequent collaboration between Canton detectives and the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office led to formal charges against Davis. On May 30, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office authorized two charges: second-degree murder, which carries a potential life sentence, and a fourth-offense habitual offender charge, which mandates a minimum 25-year sentence.

Davis was arraigned in 35th District Court and is being held without bond. His next court date is scheduled for June 20.
