Fatal Akron shooting death of Vernall Robinson IV – Obituary
Vernall Robinson IV, 31, of Akron, was shot and killed early Thursday morning during a violent encounter at Ole Glory Daze bar on Old Main Street, according to Akron police. The deadly incident also left another man, aged 44, hospitalized.
Authorities say the confrontation began around 2:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the bar, where Robinson allegedly approached and fired several shots at the older man. The wounded man retreated into the bar, collapsing shortly after.
Robinson then entered the establishment and was reportedly reaching into his pockets when the 44-year-old, who was armed, fired in self-defense, striking Robinson. According to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, Robinson was discovered lying just inside the bar’s rear entrance and was pronounced dead at 3:02 a.m. from a gunshot wound to the neck.
The older man was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital, though his current condition remains unknown.
Police are continuing their investigation and have asked anyone with information to contact the Akron Police Department or provide anonymous tips to Summit County Crimestoppers.
