Fatal Dayton shooting death of Darion Jones – Obituary

Darion Jones, 19, was found shot and killed on West Grand Avenue in Dayton on the morning of May 29. Authorities responded to 911 reports around 10 a.m. about gunfire, people fleeing the area, and an abandoned SUV potentially tied to the incident.

When officers arrived, they discovered Jones deceased at the scene with gunshot wounds.

Earlier this week, a police standoff occurred in Columbus involving a person suspected in Jones’s killing. Following that standoff, Dayton police made an arrest on Tuesday at 11:29 p.m., according to newly obtained arrest records.

However, the identity of the individual taken into custody has not been made public, as the name was blacked out in official documents.
