David Moe dies in fatal Benson County car crash

David Moe, a 62-year-old man from Devils Lake, lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on Thursday morning, June 2, in Benson County. The incident took place around 7:42 a.m. on U.S. Highway 2, approximately seven miles east of Leeds, according to information from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that Moe was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound when the vehicle veered off the road into the median. It then hit an embankment, crossed back over the highway, and came to a stop in a slough. Moe was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders from the Benson County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Region Ambulance, Leeds Ambulance, and the Leeds Fire Department were involved in the response. Officials also noted that Moe had not been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
