Eliot “Britton” Eichbauer, aged 46, was killed along with his 19-year-old son, Arlo Eichbauer, and 16-year-old nephew, Silas Eichbauer, in a devastating head-on collision on June 11 in Butler County, Kansas. The fatal crash occurred on Highway 400, between Leon and Beaumont.
According to witnesses, a Chevrolet truck heading east was swerving erratically before colliding head-on with a westbound Toyota Tacoma carrying the Eichbauers. All three family members in the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene. The three occupants of the Chevy truck sustained critical injuries and were hospitalized.
Eliot Eichbauer served as a social studies teacher at Curtis Middle School in Wichita, while his nephew Silas was a student at North High School. Arlo, Eliot’s son, was 19 years old. Wichita Public Schools confirmed their connection to the district and expressed their sorrow at the loss.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the crash.
