Fatal Cass County car crash death of Eric Comer Jr. – Obituary

Eric Comer Jr., a 34-year-old man from Fort Myers, Florida, was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday evening, June 11, in rural Cass County, North Dakota. The incident took place around 8:25 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 18 and Cass County Road 26, just north of Arthur.

Authorities reported that Comer was driving westbound on County Road 26 when he failed to stop at the intersection. His 2026 Western Star cement truck was then hit by a northbound 2023 Kenworth semi-truck hauling potatoes. The impact caused the potatoes to spill into a ditch on the west side of the road.

Comer was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. The semi driver, 78-year-old Lyle Fuglestad of Minto, North Dakota, was injured despite wearing a seat belt and was transported to Sanford Health for treatment.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash, and possible charges against Fuglestad remain under review.
