Fatal Monterey County pedestrian crash death of Fernando Arredondo Delgado – Obituary

Fernando Arredondo Delgado, 24, from Elk Grove, lost his life after being hit by a van on Highway 1 near Rocky Creek Bridge in Big Sur early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred around 5:08 a.m. as Delgado was walking in the southbound lane of the highway when a van, driven by a man from Aptos, struck him. Authorities say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Preliminary findings suggest that alcohol or drugs did not contribute to the crash. The CHP has not released further details about the circumstances surrounding why Delgado was walking on the highway.
