Fatal Portland motorcycle crash death
A deadly motorcycle accident took place late Thursday night on Interstate 5 near North Killingsworth Street in Portland. Authorities say the rider collided with the rear of a stationary construction vehicle positioned in a work zone.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene around 11:30 p.m. and discovered that the rider had crashed into a truck that was partially blocking a lane for ongoing construction. Despite attempts to save the rider’s life, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
The construction vehicle was equipped with an impact-absorbing bumper, and the driver of the truck was unharmed.
This incident marks the twelfth traffic fatality in Portland this year and the fifth involving a motorcycle. In 2024, traffic-related deaths dropped by 16% compared to the previous year. Of the motorcycle deaths last year, most occurred during nighttime hours.
