Topeka, Kansas Man Pearson Carter III Arrested in Topeka for Homicide and Related Charges

TOPEKA, KANSAS — Pearson Carter III, a 19-year-old resident of Topeka, was arrested in Topeka in connection with a homicide that occurred on June 3 near downtown.

 

According to the Topeka Police Department, Carter was taken into custody on Thursday, June 12, for his alleged involvement in the shooting that left Ian A. Mwaniki, 29, deceased. Officers responded to the 700 block of SW Western Avenue after finding Mwaniki with life-threatening injuries; he was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

 

Carter was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections and is currently facing charges including second-degree intentional murder, aggravated battery, criminal carry of a weapon, and unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits.
