Jacob Allen Rose dies in fatal Gilbert shooting
Fatal Gilbert shooting death of Jacob Allen Rose – Obituary
Jacob Allen Rose, 24, was fatally shot by Gilbert police officers during a welfare check on June 11. Authorities reported that Rose allegedly brandished a firearm when officers approached him while he was found unresponsive behind the wheel of a vehicle near the intersection of Lindsay and Guadalupe roads around 6 p.m.
On June 12, the Gilbert Police Department officially identified the man as Jacob Allen Rose. The following day, his family issued a public response through their attorney, Stacy Scheff.
In the statement, Scheff expressed the family’s deep sorrow and frustration, describing their grief as compounded by what they called poor communication from the Gilbert Police Department. She said that the family has not been given a written explanation about the circumstances of Jacob’s death and has not been contacted by either the department’s chaplain or victim services team.
Instead, according to Scheff, the family learned crucial details about the incident through media reports. She stated that the department’s continued lack of transparency raises serious concerns about the events leading to the fatal shooting of Jacob Allen Rose.
