Fatal Montgomery shooting death of Lamar Merritt – Obituary

Lamar Merritt, a 30-year-old resident of Montgomery, was shot and killed in the early hours of Sunday on Mobile Highway.

Emergency responders were summoned at 3:33 a.m. to the 3400 block following reports of gunfire and discovered Merritt with a severe gunshot wound. He was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

By midday, police had upgraded the case from a death investigation to a full homicide inquiry. At present, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not released further details.
