Thomas Antonio Jackson, 41, of Troy, has been identified as the individual who was shot and killed by a Shelby Township police officer following a traffic stop earlier this month. The fatal encounter took place around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, near the intersection of 22 Mile Road and Van Dyke in Shelby Township, Michigan.

Authorities say the incident began during a traffic stop, which escalated when Jackson allegedly attempted to flee from officers. During the pursuit, police reported that Jackson brandished a firearm, prompting one of the officers to open fire.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed Jackson’s identity and stated that the shooting remains under active investigation. Additional details are expected to be made public once the inquiry concludes.
