Elmira police have released the name of the man who lost his life in the gunfire that erupted at Pulaski Park on the evening of June 9. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Yasean J. McQueen.

Officers rushed to the park just after 8 p.m. after multiple reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, where McQueen was pronounced dead. The second individual was treated for injuries described by authorities as non-life-threatening.

Monday night’s violence was one of several shooting incidents reported in Elmira, leading police to increase patrols as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
