Fatal Port Orchard motorcycle crash death of David R. Smith and Vickie L. Carr – Obituary

David R. Smith, 65, and Vickie L. Carr, 68, both residents of Sequim, lost their lives in a single-motorcycle accident on Highway 16 in Port Orchard on Friday evening.

The Washington State Patrol reported that the crash happened around 5 p.m. as the pair were heading east on the highway near the Tremont Street exit. The driver, Smith, reportedly lost control of the motorcycle, causing both individuals to be fatally injured. Despite both wearing helmets, they died at the scene.

The incident forced the closure of all eastbound lanes of Highway 16 near the Tremont Street exit, leading to significant delays for evening commuters. Drivers were redirected to Anderson Hill Road as an alternative route.

Authorities are still working to determine what led to the crash.
