Fatal Miami shooting death of Abran Cumba

Abran Cumba was killed and a woman injured during a shooting at a homeless encampment in Miami, authorities reported. The suspect, 60-year-old Juan Antonio Vera, has been charged with murder and attempted murder following his arrest in Tampa.

The violent incident unfolded near the railroad tracks opposite the Brightline station, situated between Northwest 6th and 8th Street. Emergency responders from Miami Fire Rescue and police arrived to find Cumba already deceased, while the injured woman was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital for medical attention.

Investigators managed to track Vera to Hillsborough County. Deputies located him in the 11000 block of Nicklaus Circle, reportedly using drones and other tools during the search operation. Miami Police credited Hillsborough deputies for their swift coordination and support in making the arrest.

Vera is expected to be extradited back to Miami to face the pending charges related to the shooting.
