Fatal Fort Worth shooting death of Anthony Rangel

Anthony Rangel, 19, was killed early Sunday morning during a house party in Fort Worth’s Northside, where he was celebrating his birthday. The incident also left two other individuals injured, according to Fort Worth police.

Police were dispatched to a home in the 3700 block of N. Houston Street around 12:30 a.m. on June 15 after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found two individuals with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to nearby hospitals, where Rangel later died and the second victim is expected to recover. A third injured person arrived at a hospital via private transportation and is also expected to survive.

Investigators revealed that a disagreement between two women at the party escalated and led to a physical confrontation involving one of the male shooting victims. An unidentified suspect pulled out a firearm and opened fire, striking all three victims before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. No arrests have been made at this time, and homicide detectives are continuing the investigation.

Friends and family confirmed the party was held in celebration of Rangel’s birthday. A GoFundMe page created to help with funeral expenses described Rangel as a young man with dreams, compassion, and deep faith. His girlfriend’s mother recalled his recent baptism, sharing that his loved ones find solace in their belief they will be reunited with him one day.

This shooting was one of several fatal incidents in Fort Worth that same morning. In unrelated events, two other men were killed—one in west Fort Worth on Conejos Drive and another on Forest Avenue in the east side. Additionally, a fourth person was left critically injured in a shooting on Lynnhaven Road.
