Cody Thomas Telega dies in fatal Duluth shooting
Fatal Duluth shooting death of Cody Thomas Telega
A man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Duluth’s Central Hillside area, authorities said.
The victim, identified as 37-year-old Cody Thomas Telega of Duluth, was discovered around 1:30 a.m. in the 100 block of East Third Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police officers provided emergency aid at the scene before Telega was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Another individual was also targeted in the shooting but was not hit, according to police.
Following the incident, the suspects fled the area but were later tracked down with help from nearby law enforcement. A Cloquet police officer spotted their vehicle, stopped it, and with assistance from the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, took both suspects into custody.
The suspects have been identified as 35-year-old Antonio Duryea Hendon and 41-year-old Amber Michele Rose Walker. Hendon was booked into the St. Louis County Jail on preliminary charges of second-degree murder and first-degree assault. Walker was held on a preliminary charge of aiding and abetting murder.
Investigators believe all individuals involved knew each other and are examining a previous event that may have led to the shooting.
The area where the shooting occurred has seen multiple violent incidents in past years, including several fatal shootings and assaults.
This marks the first reported homicide in Duluth for the year.
