Fatal Frederick County shooting death of Eduardo Alexander Alvarado Urrea
Eduardo Alexander Alvarado Urrea, a 20-year-old resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, was killed in a shooting that occurred late Saturday night along eastbound Interstate 70 in Frederick County. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
The incident unfolded just before midnight on June 14, 2025. Troopers from the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack arrived around 11:55 p.m. near the 600 block of Lakeview Drive in Mount Airy after receiving reports of gunfire. Authorities discovered a 2018 GMC Sierra pickup truck containing six individuals, including Urrea.
According to investigators, shots were fired into the GMC from another vehicle traveling eastbound on I-70 shortly after the group left an event at the Frederick Fairgrounds. One of the other passengers, the driver, sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to a trauma center. Another individual was checked by medics but declined treatment, while the remaining three occupants were unharmed.
The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation with help from the Criminal Enforcement Division West and the Frederick Barrack. Forensic teams processed the scene, and local law enforcement agencies including the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and the Mount Airy and Frederick police departments are assisting.
Authorities are urging anyone with dashcam footage from the area between 11:30 p.m. and midnight or with any information to contact the Frederick Barrack at 301-600-4150. The investigation remains active.
