Fatal Blue Ridge Parkway motorcycle crash death of Edward Zigata

Edward Zigata, 60, lost his life following a motorcycle collision on the Blue Ridge Parkway earlier this month, authorities confirmed.

The incident took place around midday on June 1 near Milepost 162, where Zigata’s motorcycle struck a deer that had wandered into his lane. The impact caused Zigata to be thrown from his bike, resulting in critical injuries.

Emergency crews from the National Park Service, along with Floyd County Fire and EMS, responded swiftly and transported him to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Despite medical intervention, Zigata passed away from his injuries on June 14.
