Fatal Baltimore shooting death of Lavar Steeles

Baltimore detectives have confirmed that 23-year-old Lavar Steeles was the man who suffered fatal gunshot injuries early Friday in the 1500 block of West Fayette Street.

Officers were alerted to the violence when hospital staff reported a walk-in patient with gunshot wounds at approximately 12:13 a.m., prompting police to respond to the medical facility.

Despite the efforts of doctors and nurses, Steeles was pronounced dead a short time later, and investigators launched a homicide inquiry.
