Fatal Gulfport shooting death of Rickey Durr

Authorities have identified Rickey Durr, a 33-year-old man from Magee, as the person fatally shot at West Side Park in Gulfport on Saturday evening.

Emergency responders were called to the park around 5:30 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Durr was transported to Memorial Hospital, where he died from a gunshot wound around 6 p.m., according to Harrison County Deputy Coroner Whitney Valles.

Following the incident, police issued a first-degree murder warrant for 32-year-old Kendall Jamal McCall of Jackson. McCall later surrendered to law enforcement and was being held in the Harrison County jail as of Monday morning, with bond set at $1 million.

Investigators are continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are asking for assistance from the public.
