Authorities in Henderson are searching for a suspect after a woman and her son were fatally shot on Sunday evening in what police describe as a double homicide.
Officers responded around 6:45 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 900 block of Maple Street, where they discovered two individuals who had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
The deceased were identified as 63-year-old Teresa Davis and her 26-year-old son, Joseph Jeffreys Jr., both residents of Maple Street.
Investigators have named 41-year-old Michael Sharron Wright as the prime suspect in the case. He is currently wanted on murder charges related to both deaths.
Wright was last seen leaving the scene in a white Hyundai Sonata with North Carolina license plate KEE-6554.
Law enforcement officials have warned the public that Wright is believed to be armed and dangerous, advising people not to approach him.
