Alexus L. Foreman dies in fatal Norfolk shooting

Fatal Norfolk shooting death of Alexus L. Foreman

A woman killed during a Monday shooting in Norfolk that triggered an Amber Alert has been identified as 28-year-old Alexus L. Foreman, who was the mother of the abducted child.

According to the Norfolk Police Department, Foreman, a resident of Norfolk, was fatally shot just before her 4-year-old son was taken from the scene. Authorities confirmed on Tuesday that the child, Kai Foreman, was located unharmed in Virginia Beach around 1 a.m. at a home on Huntley Way. His recovery was made possible with help from the Virginia Beach Police Department, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshal Task Force.

Police arrested 27-year-old Tyli N. Scott at the home and charged him with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

The child’s disappearance prompted an Amber Alert issued Monday afternoon by Virginia State Police. Authorities had stated that Kai Foreman was believed to be in serious danger and that Scott was someone known to him.

Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of East Liberty Street near Berkley Park just before 11:30 a.m. on Monday in response to reports of a shooting. That location was also where the child was reportedly taken, though police have yet to confirm how the shooting and the abduction are directly connected.

The child has since been placed in the custody of a guardian. Authorities have not detailed the relationship, if any, between Alexus Foreman and Tyli Scott.

The investigation remains ongoing.
