Fatal Jerome County crash death of Dean Krause

Dean Krause, 58, lost his life on Sunday after the pickup truck he was driving plunged into the Snake River Canyon near the Perrine Bridge in Jerome County, Idaho.

The incident occurred at the northwest scenic overlook along southbound U.S. Highway 93. According to Idaho State Police and local deputies at the scene, Krause’s green Ford Ranger broke through a fence before tumbling over the edge. The vehicle struck several surfaces during its fall and eventually came to rest on an embankment close to the river.

Emergency responders, including Magic Valley Paramedics and fire and police departments from Twin Falls, were dispatched to the site. To aid in recovery efforts, access to the river at Centennial Park was restricted, and the boat launch was temporarily closed.

Although the scenic overlook was shut down during the emergency response, U.S. Highway 93 remained open.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash and have asked the public to come forward with any video or details. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Idaho State Police District 4 Office.
