Eliasib Cortes Vargas dies in fatal South Austin motorcycle crash

Fatal South Austin motorcycle crash death of Eliasib Cortes Vargas

A 34-year-old motorcyclist, Eliasib Cortes Vargas, died following a collision involving an SUV in South Austin.

 

The incident occurred on the night of June 12, around 9:19 p.m., in the 1700 block of South Pleasant Valley Road. Officers from the Austin Police Department arrived at the crash site, where they found Vargas critically injured after his motorcycle was struck by an SUV.

 

Vargas was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency care but later succumbed to his injuries.

 

The driver of the SUV, identified as 54-year-old Thomas Ajanel Chan, was taken into custody. Authorities confirmed he was under the influence at the time and charged him with driving while intoxicated. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
