Gerald Heningsmith dies in fatal Vincennes house fire

Fatal Vincennes house fire death of Gerald Heningsmith

An early morning blaze on Tuesday in Vincennes claimed the life of 87-year-old Gerald Heningsmith, who was discovered deceased inside a home engulfed in flames at the intersection of 4th and Seminary.

Fire crews responded quickly and managed to pull five individuals from the burning residence. All five sustained injuries during the incident and were taken for treatment. Authorities have not yet released their names.

The house suffered major structural damage as a result of the fire, which required emergency personnel to remain at the scene for approximately three and a half hours.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
