Hackney Man, 44, Arrested in Hackney for Murder Following Gas Explosion
HACKNEY, LONDON — A 44-year-old man was arrested in Hackney on suspicion of murdering a 46-year-old woman after she was found with stab wounds inside a house that experienced a suspected gas explosion early Tuesday morning, June 17.
According to the Metropolitan Police, officers and the London Fire Brigade responded just before 5 a.m. to reports of a blast and a person trapped inside a terraced home on Dumont Road, Stoke Newington. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was taken to hospital with slash wounds, and his condition is not life-threatening. Two children, aged seven and nine, were also taken to hospital as a precaution but are not believed to have been inside the property during the explosion.
