Fatal Las Cruces car crash death of Juan Haro
Juan A. Haro, age 48, was killed on the night of June 13 after being hit by a car at the intersection of Boutz Road and El Paseo Road in Las Cruces, according to city officials.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at 10:50 p.m. after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck. When they arrived, responders found Haro with serious injuries. Despite their efforts to save him, he was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that Haro had been walking across Boutz Road, heading south, when he was hit by a black Cadillac CTS moving westbound toward El Paseo. The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old, remained at the scene and was interviewed by police.
Authorities took possession of the vehicle as part of the investigation, pending a search warrant. As of now, no charges have been brought against the teenager, but the case remains open.
