Kavari Drisdell dies in fatal Decatur crash

Fatal Decatur crash death of Kavari Drisdell

Authorities have confirmed the death of 12-year-old Kavari Drisdell, who was fatally struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Decatur on June 15, 2025.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Van Dyke Street and King Street, where Drisdell was reportedly biking east across North Van Dyke Street. During the crossing, he was hit by a 2011 Dodge Challenger.

Emergency crews transported Drisdell to a nearby hospital, but he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 45-year-old man from Decatur, was unharmed in the crash. He was taken into custody and now faces charges of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Resulting in Death.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
