Matthew Cox dies in fatal Garfield County bicyclist incident

Fatal Garfield County bicyclist incident death of Matthew Cox

Matthew Cox, 38, of Glenwood Springs, was identified by the Garfield County Coroner as the bicyclist found deceased near Carbondale.

Cox’s body was discovered on the side of Highway 82 on the morning of June 16, after apparently biking from Carbondale to Glenwood Springs on the evening of June 13.

An autopsy showed no injuries that directly caused his death, and toxicology tests are pending as officials continue investigating the cause of death.
