Fatal Peoria stabbing death of Robert Schleb, Jr.

An 80-year-old man, Robert Schleb, Jr., was discovered dead with multiple stab wounds inside his Peoria apartment last month, prompting a homicide investigation.

On the evening of May 13, around 7 p.m., Peoria officers responded to a welfare check at an apartment complex located near 87th and Peoria avenues. When they entered the residence, they found Schleb, Jr. deceased from apparent stab injuries.

Investigators believe the fatal attack occurred sometime between the night of May 12 and the late morning hours of May 13.

Authorities are seeking public assistance to identify the individual responsible for the killing. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information that results in an arrest.
