Fatal Stark County hit and run accident death of Sean Gates

Sean Gates, a 39-year-old man from Stark County, was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Canton Township.

The crash occurred around 10:40 a.m. in the 1600 block of Shepler Church Avenue SW. Deputies reported that the driver involved fled the scene following the collision.

Gates was pronounced dead at the location. According to Stark County Major Ryan Carver, Gates had recently left work early due to feeling unwell and was likely walking home when the incident happened.

Authorities believe the suspect vehicle is a white sedan showing front-end damage. Law enforcement is asking anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
