Skiathos, Greece Man [Name Withheld] Arrested in Connection with Rome Park Double Homicide

SKIATHOS, GREECE — An unidentified American man, whose name has not been officially released, was arrested on the Greek island of Skiathos in connection with the deaths of a woman and her infant daughter, whose bodies were found earlier this month in a park in Rome.

According to the Rome Police Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was taken into custody on June 13 during a coordinated operation between Greek and Italian authorities on Skiathos. Authorities say the incident unfolded on June 7, when the bodies of a baby girl, believed to be between six and ten months old, and her mother, thought to be in her late 20s or early 30s, were discovered in Villa Doria Pamphili, Rome’s largest park.

The arrest came after Italian police received tips from the public following a televised appeal on the missing persons show “Chi l’ha visto?”. Witnesses reported having seen the woman and her baby at local soup kitchens and described an earlier altercation between the suspect and the woman in a Rome square.

The suspect was transported to a detention facility in Greece and is currently facing charges related to the incident, pending extradition proceedings requested by Italian authorities.
