Fatal Munford shooting death of Tiffany Lynn Bonner

Tiffany Lynn Bonner, 36, of Munford, Alabama, was discovered dead inside a burned-out vehicle in late March, and now authorities have charged a man with her murder.

On March 30, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle on fire along Jenifer Road in Munford. Once the flames were extinguished, investigators found Bonner’s body inside the car. Though the exact cause of death wasn’t immediately clear, later court filings revealed she had been shot.

Detectives eventually identified a suspect and encountered him on Quail Run Road. As deputies approached, the man reportedly reached for a firearm. A deputy fired back after hearing a gunshot, striking the man. He was hospitalized first in Talladega and later transferred to a Birmingham medical center.

The suspect, 27-year-old James Cole Oliver, is now being held in the Talladega County Jail without bond. He faces a capital murder charge, along with additional charges of domestic violence and property theft.

According to court records, Bonner had an active protective order against Oliver when she was killed.
