Avery Eskridge dies in fatal Knox County crash

Fatal Knox County car crash death of Avery Eskridge

Avery Eskridge, 51, lost his life in a multi-vehicle collision Friday night on Maynardville Pike near Loyston Road, according to a crash report released by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation report revealed that Eskridge was traveling northbound on Maynardville Pike at high speed, using the continuous left-turn lane to pass other vehicles. While maneuvering in this manner, he veered back into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with another car.

The impact of the crash caused the struck vehicle to overturn, which then led to a secondary collision when it was hit by an additional car. Three other individuals were injured in the sequence of crashes.

The aftermath of the wreck resulted in the closure of Maynardville Pike for several hours as the Knox County Traffic Unit, TANGO, conducted its investigation. Authorities stated that excessive speed was likely a contributing factor in the crash.

Toxicology results for Eskridge are still pending, and the full investigation remains open awaiting additional findings from the Knox County Medical Examiner’s Office.
