Hampton Calvin dies in fatal South Los Angeles train accident

Fatal South Los Angeles train accident death of Hampton Calvin.

Hampton Calvin, 38, was killed Monday morning after being struck by a train at the Leimert Park Metro Station in South Los Angeles.

At approximately 7:09 a.m., officers responded to the 4300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard following reports that a man had fallen onto the train tracks. Authorities say he was run over by an oncoming train shortly thereafter.

Emergency crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and located Calvin deceased on the tracks.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner officially identified him as Hampton Calvin.

Investigators have not yet determined how he ended up on the tracks, and the circumstances leading to the incident remain under review.
