Fatal Camden stabbing death of Jennifer Abbott
Jennifer Abbott, also known as Sarah Steinberg, a 69-year-old woman, was found fatally stabbed in her flat in Camden, north London, after being missing for several days. She was last seen on June 10 walking her pet corgi, and her body was discovered on June 13 with tape covering her mouth.
The discovery was made when a neighbor helped Abbott’s worried niece break into the flat on Mornington Place around 6 p.m. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene. Her corgi had been locked in the bathroom for three days but survived the ordeal.
Neighbors described Jennifer as an intelligent and enigmatic woman who had a diverse background, including working as a doctor and an actor-director in the United States. One neighbor recalled walking with her and the corgi and said she was lively and charismatic. Another local described Abbott as a private yet polite and well-mannered woman who regularly walked her dog.
Police revealed the cause of death as sharp force trauma after a post-mortem examination. Authorities are investigating the incident as a homicide and are appealing to the public for any information related to the case. Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart urged anyone who may have witnessed or heard anything unusual in the area around the time of the murder to come forward.
Extra police patrols remain in place near Mornington Place, and detectives continue their investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police or report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
