Fatal Santa Fe Springs car crash death of Micah Clantz

A 30-year-old pedestrian, Micah Clantz, lost his life Friday night after being struck by a vehicle on the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway near the Telegraph Road off-ramp in Santa Fe Springs.

The California Highway Patrol received reports of a collision at approximately 8:56 p.m. and arrived to find a white Honda sedan stopped near the center divider and Clantz lying in the high-occupancy vehicle lane.

Los Angeles County Fire Department crews determined Clantz had succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The county medical examiner’s office confirmed his identity on Tuesday.

Investigators closed the HOV lane and two additional lanes while they gathered evidence and documented the crash.

Authorities have not released further details about the driver or the circumstances leading up to the impact, and the investigation remains active.
