Fatal Sacramento County car crash death of Rayanna L. Diaz

Rayanna L. Diaz, a 28-year-old woman from Sacramento, lost her life following a two-vehicle collision Monday evening in the Rosemont area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. at the intersection of South Watt Avenue and Kiefer Boulevard. Diaz had been driving an Infiniti sedan on Kiefer Boulevard toward Watt Avenue with a man and a young boy as passengers.

A Lexus sedan, operated by a man traveling alone on Watt Avenue, collided with Diaz’s vehicle at the intersection.

Emergency responders transported Diaz to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The two passengers in her car suffered moderate to minor injuries, while the Lexus driver was unharmed.

Authorities have not yet determined which vehicle ran the red light, and it remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Officials also have not disclosed whether seatbelts were in use by any of those involved.
