A 44-year-old woman, Sarah Parsons of Nashville, lost her life Tuesday night in a tragic single-vehicle accident on Murfreesboro Pike near British Woods Drive.

Authorities say the crash happened around 9:25 p.m. when Parsons, who was driving a Nissan Xterra westbound, suddenly veered across the eastbound lanes for reasons yet to be determined. The SUV left the roadway, descended an embankment, and collided with a utility pole.

Parsons was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. Officials are in the process of informing her next of kin.

Investigators reported no evidence of impairment at the crash site.
