Armando Velasquez dies in fatal Miami-Dade County carbon monoxide incident

Fatal Miami-Dade County carbon monoxide toxicity death of Armando Velasquez

Armando Velasquez, 38, was pronounced dead after being found inside a trailer at a nursery in southwest Miami-Dade earlier this month, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say Velasquez succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning at the scene of the incident on June 5 near Southwest 204th Avenue and 232nd Street at L. Diaz Nursery.

A second man, 49-year-old Reymundo Chavez Garcia, was discovered unconscious alongside Velasquez and taken to Jackson South Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. Deputies were called to conduct a welfare check and spotted the injured men through a trailer bedroom window.

Officials noted the toxic fumigation chemicals used at the nursery, although it remains unclear if those contributed to the carbon monoxide exposure. The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the exact source of the carbon monoxide.
