D’Angelo Davis dies in fatal New Orleans shooting

Fatal New Orleans shooting death of D’Angelo Davis

Authorities in New Orleans have identified D’Angelo Davis, 62, as the man killed in a shooting early Monday morning in the Tulane-Gravier neighborhood.

 

According to police, the shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of Bienville Street. Davis was rushed to a nearby hospital by emergency responders but succumbed to his injuries.

 

Roughly 20 minutes later, another fatal shooting took place at North Prieur Street and St. Maurice Avenue in the Lower 9th Ward. In that incident, 15-year-old Kenneth Smith Jr. was shot and later died at a hospital. A second individual who arrived at the hospital with Smith had blood on his clothes but was not physically harmed.

 

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed the identities of both victims on Wednesday. Investigations into both shootings remain ongoing.
