Fatal Rochester Hills car crash death of Julianne McClure
A tragic head-on collision in Rochester Hills over the weekend has taken the life of 77-year-old Julianne McClure from Troy.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reported that McClure had been driving her Chevrolet Trax south along Rochester Road, near Hickory Lawn Street, shortly after 4 p.m. on Sunday. A Toyota Highlander, driven by a 31-year-old man from Lincoln Park, veered over the center line and struck her vehicle head-on.
McClure was trapped inside the wreckage and had to be freed by emergency responders. She was taken to a hospital for treatment but passed away on Wednesday due to her injuries.
Also in McClure’s car was her 15-year-old granddaughter from Minnetonka, Minnesota, who was sitting in the front passenger seat. The teenager suffered a broken ankle as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Toyota Highlander was unharmed. However, two children riding in the backseat of his SUV—a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old—were hospitalized. Their medical conditions have not yet been disclosed.
Authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, and the cause of the driver’s lane departure remains under investigation.
