Fatal Mesquite shooting death of Kemarius Mack

Kemarius Mack, a 23-year-old man from Lancaster, lost his life in a shooting that broke out in a Mesquite parking lot early Monday morning.

Authorities reported that the incident took place shortly before 1 a.m. in the 2800 block of Franklin Drive, where Mack was involved in a confrontation with multiple individuals before shots were fired.

 

Following the gunfire, the person believed to have shot Mack contacted Mesquite police and claimed the act was done in self-defense. Investigators have not released the name of the shooter or confirmed whether they will face charges.

 

Responding officers reportedly provided immediate medical care to Mack while also attempting to control the tense and chaotic scene.

 

According to the police, a separate individual—who was not the shooter—was arrested at the scene for obstructing officers as they attempted to render aid.

 

The investigation into the fatal encounter remains ongoing, and authorities continue to gather information from witnesses.
