Fatal Chesterfield County crash death of Christopher D. Harding Jr.

A head-on collision in Chesterfield County has claimed the life of 29-year-old Christopher D. Harding Jr. from Petersburg after an SUV reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic on West Hundred Road.

Authorities say the crash took place around 3:30 p.m. on June 19 near Thomas Dale High School and C.E. Curtis Elementary School. Harding was riding westbound on his motorcycle when a vehicle heading east, driven by 56-year-old Bradford D. Jordan of North Chesterfield, veered over the center line and struck him directly.

Harding was rushed to a nearby hospital following the crash but later succumbed to his injuries. Police confirmed his death the next day, on June 20.

Bradford D. Jordan is currently in custody at the Chesterfield County Jail and faces charges of driving under the influence and DUI maiming. Authorities have indicated that additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.

The wreck caused extended closures on West Hundred Road between Old Centralia and Osborne roads while emergency personnel responded and cleared the site. Although thunderstorms arrived in the area shortly afterward, officials confirmed that weather was not a factor at the time of the incident.

The Chesterfield County Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Chesterfield Police at (804) 748-1251 or share tips anonymously through Crime Solvers at (804) 748-0660 or the P3Tips app.
